Paul and I saw a piece of mining equipment sitting by a trail in Colorado that looked just like one of the pieces you photographed. Strange to think of all those men working inside the mountains. We took a couple of foreign students to tour a mine in Deadwood, SD, and they told us how they worked in tandem with only one candle lighting their work. The mining company didn’t even supply the candles; men had to bring their own!
