The next few days are going to be all about putting in the miles to get to my parent’s place in Central City, NE. I am trying to get there by the end of the month on Sunday. I headed west on Highway 2 hoping to make it into Nebraska today. It is beginning to look a little more like I expected from Iowa. The hills are spreading out and the farmland is switching from pastures and hay fields to more corn.
Highway 2 does’t actually go through any towns. It goes near them or around them, but not through them. The first town with any services I came across was Shenandoah, IA, but it was two miles off Highway 2. So, I continued on. At Sidney, IA, the highway goes around the city, but I had been on the road for over 40 miles without coming across any convenience store or other store, so I went into town to take a late lunch break.

I am just about due for a rest day. I can tell, because I started getting a little short tempered and cussing at the hills. I really want to push on, however, to get to Central City. I did make it into Nebraska, barely, and found a pot to replace the one with the missing lid.
Love the donkeys !!!!! 🙂
