Today was not quite as pleasant as yesterday, but not bad. The hills have become steeper and more frequent. It reminds me a bit of western Connecticut. The countryside was nice, as were the small towns. One difference between this area and western Connecticut is that here you can see the next hill from a fair distance because there are fewer trees. It can be a little disheartening to watch the hill you know you will have to climb for a few miles before you get to it.

I made it into southern Iowa. Iowa is much hillier than I expected. I was expecting more flat, corn filled country like Indiana and Illinois.

Not quite what I was expecting from Iowa.

I have ended up in another Amish area. This is probably the third area I have gone through that is heavily Amish. I didn’t realize there were so many Amish areas in the country.

You can see the tracks of the carts on the shoulder, with the horse tracks in the middle.
